Drive technical sales within our naval segment as Technical Sales Engineer

Kongsberg Maritime is currently experiencing significant growth within the maritime defense segment. To succeed in business development, developing and delivering integrated system solutions to navies and coast guards globally, we are now strengthening our technical team within Naval Systems.

We are seeking a Technical Sales Engineer who will contribute throughout the entire sales process – from early business development and solution design to contract and project start-up.

For many years, Kongsberg Maritime has successfully delivered products such as propulsion systems and stabilizers to navies and coast guards around the world. Going forward, further growth is expected by offering a broader portfolio of products, solutions, and services to the defence market.

This growth will largely be driven by expansion within bridge, automation and control systems, energy and power solutions, as well as digital services such as maritime simulators. Uncrewed and autonomous vessels are and will continue to be an important component of future naval forces. Kongsberg Maritime already holds a strong international position in this field, with early deliveries in the commercial sector and ongoing initiatives targeting navies and coast guards.

In this role, you will be a key contributor to realizing this growth through close collaboration with customers, the business development and sales organization, and additionally, product and technical departments.

Periods of extensive travel should be expected.

Key responsibilities:

• Establish, present, and promote integrated system solutions to end-users, procurement organizations, and partners
• Provide technical sales support throughout the entire process, from early business development and proposal work to contract and project start-up
• Take responsibility for defining and coordinating the technical scope, cost estimation, and risk assessments, in close collaboration with other business units and technical teams
• Work closely in cross-functional teams with business developers, sales professionals, product owners, and technical resources to ensure competitive and relevant solutions tailored to customer needs and requirements
• Represent the company at relevant customer meetings, external conferences, and professional events

Desired qualifications and experience:

• Technical education at bachelor’s or master’s level and/or military academy education
• Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in technical sales, system engineering, or similar roles within complex technical development or deliveries, preferably involving international customer interaction
• Strong understanding of the customer’s domain and work processes.

Personal attributes:

• You are able to see technical and operational needs in context and challenge requirements and solution choices in a constructive and professional manner
• Analytical mindset, commercial focus, comprehensive understanding of technology, and familiarity with the defence industry and its framework conditions
• Self-driven and proactive, with the ability to work well both independently and in teams, with high energy and strong execution capability
• Strong communication skills in both Norwegian and English, written and spoken
  
  

This employment will require a pre-employment check procedure in accordance with company security standards, role or site requirements.

This employment requires security clearance according to the Norwegian Security Act. The successful candidate may start work with limited accesses whilst the clearance is being processed.
